Couples Therapy
The benefits of working with a psychotherapist
Every relationship faces challenges. Whether you’re struggling with communication, navigating a major life change, or feeling distant from your partner, couples therapy can provide a space to slow down, reconnect, and work through what’s not being said.
Couples often seek therapy when conflict becomes frequent, intimacy fades, or they find themselves repeating the same painful patterns. But couples therapy isn’t only for crises – it can also support couples in deepening their connection, managing differences more effectively, and strengthening their partnership for the long term.
I work with couples of all backgrounds, orientations, and stages of relationship – from those newly committed to long-term partners navigating transitions such as parenting, separation, or ageing. My aim is to help each person feel heard, understood, and better equipped to relate to their partner with openness and honesty.

A space to explore, repair, and reconnect
In couples therapy, we focus not just on the problems at the surface, but on the underlying emotional dynamics that drive conflict and disconnection. I help you both explore how past experiences, unspoken needs, and entrenched patterns may be shaping your relationship today.
Using a collaborative, emotionally-focused approach, we’ll work together to improve communication, increase empathy, and rebuild trust. Therapy provides a neutral, non-judgemental space where difficult conversations can unfold safely and productively.
Couples therapy doesn’t take sides. My role is to support both of you, helping you move from blame or withdrawal toward curiosity and deeper understanding. The goal is not necessarily to “fix” each other, but to develop a more compassionate and connected way of being together.
Getting Started with Couples Therapy
Beginning couples therapy can feel like a big decision. In our first session, we’ll explore what’s brought you here, your goals for therapy, and how we might work together. Some couples come for a few sessions to address a specific issue; others stay longer to work through deeper or more long standing dynamics.
I offer sessions both online and in person in my New York practice, providing flexibility to suit your schedule and preferences. If you’re ready to explore a new way forward in your relationship – or are simply curious about what couples therapy could offer – I welcome you to reach out.
